Kennedy Dominates, As Wings Win Third Straight

HARLINGEN, Texas- Starting pitcher Brett Kennedy did it again for RGV (5-5) capturing a 6-3 win over the Texas Thunder (5-5) Sunday night at Historic Harlingen Field.

With one out in the bottom of the second inning, WhiteWings third basemen Kevin Lusson and shortstop Troy Zawadzki drew back to back walks setting up Albert Carpen, who reached first on an infield single. With one out RGV's Aaron Gates hit a base hit down the third base line scoring both Lusson and Zawadzki giving RGV an early 2-0 lead.

RGV's Albert Carpen came home for the third run of the inning scoring on the fielder's choice by Thomas Shull.

Starting pitcher Brett Kennedy got his first win of the year (1-0) going 7 and 1/3; only allowing three runs and scattering just five hits.

Offensively for the Wings both Albert Carpen and Aaron Gates went 2-for-4 respectively, Gates collected two RBI's on the night.

In the eighth inning, The Texas Thunder threatened a 5-1 lead scoring two runs making it a 5-3 ball-game.

Solid bullpen pitching from Nelson Curry bailed the Wings out of a bases loaded situation as RGV went on to win their third straight game and making back to the .500 mark.

RGV will send lefty pitcher Antony Bello for game three of a four game series. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
