Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats failed to continue their winning streak over the Edinburg Roadrunners, falling 4-3 on the road on Sunday night.
The Cats (7-3) had to battle from behind from the get-go as Edinburg (3-7) plated three runs in the first off starting pitcher Cole Stephens.
Fort Worth scored their first run in the third off catcher Shelby Ford's sacrifice fly, but the Roadrunners added a run in the fourth to take back the three-run lead.
Ford and second baseman Aljay Davis drove in runs in the fifth to make the score 4-3, but those would be the last runs of the game.
The Cats had a scoring opportunity with runners at first and third in the seventh inning, but reliever David Seguen came on to end the threat by getting Davis and Ford to fly out.
Cats reliever Stephen Nikonchik came on in relief of Stephens, giving up only one hit through three shutout innings.
Sunday night is the first time in six games this season that the Cats have lost to the Roadrunners.
The Cats and Roadrunners will play game three of the four-game series Monday at 7 p.m. at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Cats' next home game will be on June 6 at 7 p.m. against the San Angelo Colts. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by calling (817) 332-CATS.
