EDINBURG, Texas - the Edinburg Roadrunners used three runs in the first inning to defeat the Fort Worth Cats by a score 4-3 on Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Carlton Salters went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to propel the offense, while Chris Christopolous and Bunyu Maeda had RBIs in the victory for the Roadrunners (3-7).
Fort Worth (7-3) was lead by Shelby Ford who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Tim Maitland went 2-for-5 with two runs.
Starter Justin Klipp (2-1) went six and an third innings with eight strikeouts allowing one earned run for the victory.
Cole Stephens (1-1) took the loss for the Cats going five innings allowing four runs while striking out five.
Reliever Julio Castro threw a scoreless ninth inning for his first save of the season.
The Cats and Roadrunners will play game three of the four game series on Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium where Drew Coffey (1-1; 2.57 ERA) is scheduled to take on James Giulietti (0-1; 4.15 ERA) of the Cats.
Tuesday's game will be Texas Mutual Insurance mini fan give away where the first 1,000 fans through gate will get receive a mini fan.
