
Kengor's Three Double Game Give Bums Win over Lake Erie

AVON, OH- The Traverse City Beach Bums(8-8) trailed the Lake Erie Crushers(10-6) by one heading into the ninth, but Will Kengor hit a two-run double, leading the Bums to a 5-4 win.
Lake Erie pulled ahead early in the game on an RBI single by Conner Simonetti, and an RBI groundout by Brady Conlan, making it 2-0 after one. The Crushers added one in the second when Dane Hutcheon scored on an error. With one out in the fourth, Isaac Benard walked then moved to third when Kengor doubled to right. Luke Lowery drove him home with an RBI single then Kengor scored on a sacrifice fly by Alexis Rivera.
The Crushers responded in the bottom of the inning when Cameron Newell plated a run on a groundout to make it a 4-2 game. With two outs in the top of the ninth, Arby Fields walked then moved to second on Benard's infield hit. Will Kengor laced a double over the head of the left fielder, scoring both Fields and Benard, giving the Beach Bums their first and only lead of the game.
Kenneth Knudsen earned the win with a perfect eighth inning of work, adding a strikeout, as he improved to 1-0. Braden Nunn allowed the ninth inning two out rally to flourish, so he is charged with the less to fall to 0-1. John Michael Knighton gave up two hits in the bottom of the ninth, allowing the tying run to reached third, but he got the final out for his second save of the season.
Tomorrow night, the Beach Bums and Crushers are back in action for the second game of this week's three game series. On the mound for Lake Erie will be Alex Romero, while the Beach Bums counter with John Havird.
