April 2, 2003 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release
The National Lacrosse League today announced Roughnecks forward Tracy Kelusky has been named the National Lacrosse League Overall Player of the Week for week 14.
Kelusky scored a Roughnecks record eight goals and added an assist in the âRiggers 26-16 trouncing of the Ottawa Rebel, Sunday afternoon at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
The honour marks the second Player of the Week award for the Roughnecks captain, as he was named Offensive Player of the Week following a four goal, five assist performance in the Roughnecks season opening game on December 28th at Ottawa.
"That's the Tracey Kelusky that we need heading into the stretch drive," said Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Hall of the club's captain. "We knew when Tracey was back to 100 per cent that he would be a force, and he certainly showed that on Sunday.
Kelusky will lead the Roughnecks into a battle on Saturday night when Gary Gait and the Colorado Mammoth come to town for a contest with strong playoff implications for both teams. A Roughnecks win all but assures the club its first ever playoff appearance and Calgary its only professional playoff team.
The first 2,500 fans in attendance at Saturday's game receive a Roughnecks bandana, the same one worn by fan favourite Tyson Leies.
