Worcester Tornadoes News Release

NASHUA, NH--- It was a pitcher's duel from Historic Holman Stadium between Josef Frias (3-2) and Alex Woodson (1-1) but it was the bullpens that decided this game. Cooper Brannon (1-0) retired Worcester in the top of the ninth, but Santiago Ramirez (BS, 4-4) could not do the same. It was a two run walk-off homer for NH third baseman Chris Kelly; his league leading eighteenth, that did in the Tornadoes 2-1.

On the heels of a six and two third outing against NJ, Josef Frias tossed seven innings of one-hit baseball tonight striking out six. Anthony Sullivan pitched a scoreless eighth, his first appearance since June 28th after coming off the DL with a strained right oblique muscle. Ramirez had gotten the first two outs of the ninth, before blowing his third save in thirteen chances.

Alex Woodson received a no decision, hurling eight innings and exiting the game after retiring the last twelve Tornadoes his faced. His lone mistake came to Heath Keel in the top of the fifth. Keel's homer to left-center was his third jack of the season. The win went to Brannon, his first of the season.

Worcester DH/Catcher Alex Trezza left the game in the top of the seventh when the catcher Zane Chavez picked him off at first. Trezza was clutching his shoulder, which he appeared to have jammed on the bag. Chris Colabello missed his second straight game tonight with a hamstring injury.

The orange and black will try to halt this three game skid tomorrow night at Campanelli Stadium against the Rox of Brockton. Ryan Quinn (0-1) gets the start for Worcester against Wayne Lundgren (5-5) of Brockton.
