Kelly and Wooten Recognized by IFL

Wichita Wild defensive back/kick returner Randy Kelly and quarterback Dixie Wooten were recognized with post-season awards from the Indoor Football League. The league, on Wednesday, handed out 18 awards to players and franchises recognizing their accomplishments during the 2010 season.

Randy Kelly was named Special Teams Player of the Year. Kelly led the league with 1,193 yards on kick returns. He averaged 16.1 yards per return with one touchdown. Kelly also added a touchdown off of a missed field goal. Kelly led the IFL in all-purpose yards with 1,379.

The 2010 season is Kelly's third season of professional football. In 2009, Kelly led the league in average yards per return with a 21.2 yard average. Kelly scored seven touchdowns and set a Wild record with 1,450 all-purpose yards during the 2009 campaign.

Dixie Wooten was named winner of the Adam Pringle Award, which is given to the player in the league that is most dedicated to their community and who has proven to show the most outstanding service. Wooten visited and volunteered his time at numerous schools throughout the area. He spoke before a large crowd Wilbur Middle School during the spring semester. Wooten also volunteered as a coach at various football camps.

In the off-season, Wooten volunteers at Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCA's in Houston, TX. Wooten also gives his time to a youth football organization in Houston. Wooten is playing in his 7th season of professional football.

The Wild will host the Bloomington Extreme in a first-round playoff game on Saturday, June 26. Kickoff is set for 7:05 PM at Hartman Arena.
