Alaska Aces News Release

Matt Keetley made 42 saves for his first shutout of the season, and three different Condors had three point nights as the Bakersfield Condors snapped the Alaska Aces five-game home winning streak in a 4-0 final on Wednesday night. The Aces fell to 5-3 on the season. The Aces remain home to continue their six-game home stand, on Friday and Saturday night against the Condors. Tickets for both games are on sale now. Neither team scored in the opening period, as Keetley turned aside 14 Aces shots to weather an early Alaska barrage, and keep the game scoreless.

Bakersfield finally broke the scoreless tie in the second period. Rookie Scott Freeman capped on a three-man rush into the zone at 5:21 to open the scoring with his rookie-leading, seventh goal of the season. Minutes later on a power play Matt Marquardt scored on a one-timer to make it 2-0 after two periods.

The Condors kept the pedal down early in the third when Jesse Gimblett scored on a two-on-one 23 seconds into the frame. Matthew Sisca capped the scoring with a goal just after the Aces had killed a five-on-three at 12:44. Aces goaltender Gerald Coleman and defenseman Bryan Miller each lost their stick on the play, and Sisca buried the Condors fourth goal of the game. Sisca, Gimblett, and Freeman each finished with a goal and two assists. With time winding down Aces forward Matt Ambroz faught former Ace Hanson Benson, and seconds later Chris Bruton fought Gimblett, setting the stage for the two remaining games this week.

Gerald Coleman (5-3) took the loss, making 22 saves on 26 shots, and Matt Keetley (3-1) made 42 saves on 42 shots for the victory. The Aces power play went 0-5, while the Condors went 1-4. Alaska outshot Bakersfield 42-26 in the game.

The Aces remain home to continue their six-game home stand, on Friday and Saturday night against the Condors. Tickets for both games are on sale now. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.
