Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays (11-4) knocked out 15 hits, one shy of a season high, in their 10-3 win over the Clearwater Threshers (8-7) on Thursday night. Six Jays collected multiple hits while four Jays scored multiple runs.
RHP Chris Rowley (W, 7-1) went the minimum five innings to earn his sixth win as a starter. He gave up two earned runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out three. After allowing a run in the top of the first on a 1B Kyle Martin sac fly, Rowley received plenty of run support thanks to five Jays' runs in the bottom of the second.
In a 1-1 game with one out in the frame, C Mike Reeves grounded a potential inning-ending double play ball to 2B Scott Kingery. The second baseman's throw sailed wide of the bag at second, allowing two runs to score. From there, Dunedin tagged starter RHP Luke Leftwich (L, 1-2) for five runs (three earned) in the frame. Leftwich lasted four innings, taking his second loss in the last week to the Blue Jays.
Dunedin, up 6-2 heading to the seventh, added four more runs, capped by Reeves' second home run of the season. Reeves scored three runs in the game as well. Both of his long balls have come against Clearwater pitching.
LHP Jose Fernandez (H, 6) retired the first seven batters he faced in relief, while RHP Dusty Isaacs recorded the final five outs to seal the win.
Dunedin hits the road for four games in Fort Myers. RHP Sean Reid-Foley battles RHP Randy LeBlanc with first pitch at 7:05 PM.
