DUNEDIN, Fla. - Cord Sandberg and Derek Campbell led the offense as they combined for five hits on Thursday, but the Clearwater Threshers suffered a 10-3 loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.

Sandberg matched a season-high with three hits including a double, and Campbell launched his fourth home run of the season in the fifth inning, finishing 2-for-4. Scott Kingery worked a walk in the third to extend his on-base streak to 18 consecutive games.

Clearwater (8-7) broke open the scoring in the first inning, when Sandberg singled, Carlos Tocci drove a double to right, and Kyle Martin delivered a sacrifice fly to bring Sandberg in with the night's first run.

An inning later, Dunedin (11-4) sprang into the lead by putting up its first of two crooked numbers.

Gunnar Heidt, LB Dantzler, and Dickie Joe Thon all connected for consecutive singles off Luke Leftwich (1-2), and an error on a grounder to Kingery at second permitted two runs to cross. Andrew Guillotte followed with an RBI double, and Jonathan Davis would later add a run-scoring single to make it 5-1 Blue Jays.

The Threshers cut into the deficit in the fifth against Chris Rowley (7-1). Campbell led off the inning by battling through an eight-pitch at-bat before scorching a solo shot down the line in left to cut the Blue Jays lead to 5-2.

Dunedin pulled away late, adding a run off Austin Davis in the sixth and four more against Ismael Cabrera in the seventh inning.

The final run for the Threshers crossed in the eighth. Down 10-2, Tocci and Martin drew back-to-back walks, and Zach Green greeted reliever Dusty Isaacs with a drive to the right-centerfield gap for a double and his 50th RBI of the season.

Clearwater will look to rebound as the Threshers return home on Friday to open a four-game set against the St. Lucie Mets. Ranfi Casimiro (7-5) takes the hill against Andrew Church (1-1) at 6:15 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on the Threshers Broadcast Network starting at 6 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
