Sporting Kansas City News Release

WIZARDS HOST REAL SALT LAKE SATURDAY AT COMMUNITYAMERICA BALLPARK:

The Kansas City Wizards host 2009 MLS Cup Champions Real Salt Lake Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Saturday's match marks the second meeting between the clubs in 2010. RSL won the first contest 4-1 at Rio Tinto Stadium back in May. In 2009, Kansas City helped Real Salt Lake make the playoffs before their run to the championship by tying D.C. United in stoppage time, which allowed RSL to qualify for the postseason.

Coming off one of the most notable wins in club history, a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in front of a record-breaking crowd of 52,424 at Arrowhead Stadium on July 25, Kansas City topped 3rd place Toronto FC 1-0 last Saturday thanks to rookie Teal Bunbury's 2nd MLS goal.

Fans are encouraged to give their prediction of Saturday's result through this poll at KCWizards.com .

Saturday's game will be telecast live in HD on KCWE 29 and broadcast over the airwaves on La Gran D 1340 AM. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 1-888-4KC-GOAL or visiting www.kcwizards.com .

WIZARDS LOAN AARON HOHLBEIN TO MIAMI FC:

The Kansas City Wizards announced Thursday that central defender Aaron Hohlbein has been loaned to Miami FC of the USSF D-2 Pro League for the remainder of the 2010 season. Hohlbein, 24, was selected in the 1st round of the 2007 Supplemental Draft and has played 43 MLS games (41 starts) over the last four seasons. He has scored two career goals and added one assist. Hohlbein has played in two games (one start) in 2010.

Hohlbein will join Miami FC immediately and will be available for Saturday's match at the Puerto Rico Islanders. Miami is currently bottom of the NASL Conference with a league-worst 32 goals allowed. Hohlbein will look to bring a stabilizing presence to the Miami FC back line.

After signing Greek defender Nick Kounenakis, Kansas City had five center backs on the roster, including Hohlbein. The loan clears a roster spot for Kansas City. Kansas City and Miami FC have loan history, as goalkeeper Eric Kronberg joined Miami FC and helped the team qualify for the playoffs in 2006.

WIZARDS TO PARTICIPATE IN KC CROSSROADS FIRST FRIDAY EVENT:

Friday, the Kansas City Wizards will hold a party as part of the Crossroads Arts District's traditional First Fridays event. The Wizards moved into new offices at 210 West 19th Terrace in June, but have yet to stage an event during the highly popular First Fridays.

The party will take place inside the Wizards' parking garage located on the west side of Wyandotte Street between 19th Street and 19th Terrace from 5-8 p.m. CT. The event will feature free beer (Bud Light and Drop Kick Ale), free hot dogs, ping pong, foosball and beer pong. Members of the Wizards staff will be on hand to welcome First Friday attendees. Fans can RSVP to the event here on Facebook and invite their friends.

JIMMY NIELSEN NOMINATED FOR MLS SAVE OF THE WEEK:

Kansas City Wizards goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen, the team's lone 2010 MLS All-Star, was once again nominated for the Napa Save of the Week award for his outstanding first-half save against Toronto FC Designated Player Mista last weekend. Nielsen is the only player to win the honor more than once and has won four Save of the Week awards. He currently ranks 4th in MLS in saves (53) and shutouts (7). Chicago Fire rookie goalkeeper Sean Johnson won this week's Save of the Week award.

USA FANS ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT EFFORT TO LAND WORLD CUP IN 2018 OR 2022:

Kansas City soccer fans are strongly encouraged to support the bid to bring the FIFA World Cup(tm) to the United States in 2018 or 2022. To date, over 890,000 people have showed their support, including over 23,000 from Kansas City.

In addition to signing the petition at www.goUSAbid.com/kc, supporters can register their interest by texting "Kansas City" to "22442". Kansas City is one of 18 cities still in the running to host games should the USA bid be successful. FIFA will select the host nation for both 2018 and 2022 on December 2, 2010.

The Manchester United match on Sunday provided another opportunity for Kansas Citians to show their passion for the sport in front of a global audience yet again. The highly successful Summer of Soccer saw over 30,000 soccer fans gather for World Cup watch parties in the Kansas City Power & Light District. The crowd for the USA-Ghana Round of 16 match was shown live on ABC's game broadcast and seen by over 15 million people in the U.S and 12,000 in downtown Kansas City.

The Kansas City Wizards face Real Salt Lake this Saturday, August 7 at 7:30 p.m. CT at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Tickets can be purchased by visiting KCWizards.com or by calling 888-4KC-Goal. The Wizards are also now accepting initial payments for season tickets for the 2011 season, highlighted by the opening of their state-of-the-art stadium next summer.
