JOLIET, Ill. - The Kansas City T-Bones (20-20) earned their fifth straight victory tonight with a 5-4 win over the Joliet JackHammers (15-28) at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Illinois.

Kansas City opened the scoring against Jason Richardson (1-6) with an RBI double by Greg Jacobs in the top of the first. Freddie Thon answered for Joliet in the bottom of the frame, connecting for a two-run double off Justin James to give the JackHammers a 2-1 lead.

Mark Minicozzi put the T-Bones back in front with a two-run home run in the second and Ryan Fox added another tally with an RBI single in the top of the third, giving Kansas City a two-run advantage. In the bottom of the third, Thon responded again for Joliet, blasting a two-run shot to tie the game at four.

The final run of the night proved to be the decisive one for the T-Bones as they gained a 5-4 advantage on a sacrifice fly from Jacobs in the fourth. Richardson left after the inning having allowed five runs on seven hits in the loss.

James lasted four and one-thirds innings for Kansas City, surrendering four runs on seven hits in a no-decision. He was replaced by left-hander Payton Tweddale (1-3) who struck out three of the first four batters he faced. Tweddale went two and one-thirds scoreless innings for Kansas City in the victory.

Daniel Sattler replaced Tweddale with two on and two out in the seventh. The right-hander struck out a pinch-hitting Tydus Meadows to end the threat. He then threw a scoreless eighth before giving way to closer Nate Cotton. Sattler struck out three of the five batters he faced in his one and one-thirds innings of work.

Cotton threw a perfect ninth to earn his third save for Kansas City. Jacob Blackwood posted a three-hit night for the T-Bones, finishing three-for-four with a double in the contest.

Kansas City looks for a season-high sixth straight win tomorrow night, sending Cody McAllister (3-0, 3.79) to face off against Jason Novak (1-2, 5.55) and the JackHammers. First pitch is set for 7:05.
