Kansas City Commands All of Arizona's Attention
April 14, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Arizona Rattlers News Release
MESA, Ariz. - After surviving a scare in its last game, the 4-0 Rattlers head to Kansas City to battle the Command on Saturday, April 16 at the Sprint Center. Fresh off of its first win of the season, an eager Kansas City team looks to defend its home field for the second time in as many weeks against the top team in the AFL's coaches' poll.
Arizona has seen its best start to a season since 1998 - sparked by the smothering play of the league's top defense. A win over the Command would put the Rattlers at 5-0, and off to the best start in franchise history.
After facing four playoff teams from a year ago in its first four games, the Rattlers' young season has seen two memorable come from behind victories and two blowouts. A solid core of veterans has played a vital part in the team's early season success. Leading the way is four-year standout WR TRANDON HARVEY. Harvey has had 10 or more receptions, 100 or more receiving yards and at least four touchdowns in three of his first four games.
After dropping the first three games on the road, Kansas City triumphed in its home opener 62 - 48 defeating a division rival in the Iowa Barnstormers. Despite a 1-3 start to his season, QB J.J. Raterink is second in the AFL averaging 319.0 passing yards per game, and second in total offense averaging 330.5 yards per game.
"They're a better team than their record shows, and they have a ton of talent," stated a determined Rattlers GM/HEAD COACH KEVIN GUY. "They are coming off a big home win, and they'll be looking to build momentum. It's important that we stay focused and play our best."
