Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Kannapolis, NC - Extremely heavy rains, intense lightning, and crashing thunder reigned supreme at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium Wednesday night, halting the game between the Kannapolis Intimidators and the Hickory Crawdads. The game will be continued Thursday night in Hickory as part of a doubleheader at L.P. Frans Stadium.
The score was 1-1 in the top of the third with Hickory?s Alex Presley on first base and no outs when the umpires ordered the tarp on the field. Kannapolis?s Justin Edwards was on the hill.
According to the umpires, the game will be picked up at that point tomorrow and the game will be continued as a seven-inning game. If the game had gone past the middle of the fourth inning when it was suspended, thus giving it official game status, then the game would be played out as a nine-inning game. So, with the continuation being seven innings, the regularly scheduled game will also be a seven-inning affair.
The two games are the final games between the two teams this season.
Wednesday night was Movie Night at The Cannon. It is not yet known whether or not Movie Night will be scheduled for another home Intimidators game.
Game time for the continuation of Wednesday?s game is 6:05.
