Augusta, GA - The GreenJackets (50-20, 4-2) had their 14 home game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night with a 7-4 loss to the West Virginia Power (48-20, 3-4) in 12 innings. David Newton recorded the loss in relief with West Virginia plating three runs in the 12th inning to break a 4-4 tie.
The Power's Taylor Green connected for a one-out RBI single in the 12th inning scoring Andrew Lefave to break the tie and give West Virginia a 5-4 lead. Kenny Holmberg followed with an RBI sac fly then Martin Maldonado connected for a two-out RBI single to cap off the scoring for a 7-4 lead.
Newton (2-1) allowed all three runs on three hits in one inning of work. Newton also walked a batter, hit a batter and struck out two in the inning.
Augusta trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning but plated two runs to tie the game at 4-4. Ryan Rohlinger connected for an RBI double after Emmanuel Burriss led off the inning with a single to trim the lead to 4-3. Brett Pill then tied the game with a one-out RBI single.
The GreenJackets had runners on second and third and one out in the eighth inning but could not get a hit to score the go-ahead run. Dayton Buller popped out then Marcus Sanders struck out to end the inning.
Augusta had another chance in the bottom of the ninth inning when Tyler Graham singled with one out then Burriss followed with a double to right-center field. On the play Graham tried to score from first but was thrown out at home plate for the second out of the inning. The GreenJackets did not get another runner into scoring position after the ninth inning.
Augusta starter Adam Cowart received his third straight no decision working six innings and allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits. Cowart also walked one and struck out four.
The GreenJackets trailed 3-0, 3-2 and 4-2 before finally tying the game at 4-4 in the eighth inning.
Augusta broke up the shutout in the sixth inning when Rohlinger drove in Graham on an RBI ground out to trim the lead to 3-1. Mike McBryde pulled Augusta to within one in the seventh inning on an RBI single scoring Dayton Buller for a 3-2 Power lead.
West Virginia took a 4-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI single from Kenny Holmberg.
The GreenJackets and Power finish up their series on Thursday night with Augusta sending right-hander Kevin Pucetas (9-1, 1.67) to the hill. West Virginia counters with righty Alex Periard (3-1, 2.85). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Ryan Rohlinger extended his hit streak to eight games, Dayton Buller extended his hit streak to seven games, Emmanuel Burriss extended his hit streak to six games and Brett Pill extended his hit streak to five games.
