January 7, 2009 - Kamloops, BC
The Kamloops Blazers and Portland Winter Hawks combine for 14 goals in a wild game at the Interior Savings Center in Kamloops, with the Blazers coming out on top by a margin of 8-6 on Wednesday night.
Kamloops got goals from eight different goal scorers - Giffen Nyren, Jimmy Bubnick, Tyler Shattock, Shayne Wiebe, Brenden Ranford, Alex Rodgers, Zak Stebner and Brady Calla - in the victory.
Portland got two goals from Luke Walker and single markers from Travis Ehrhardt, Colin Reddin, Stefan Schneider and Sawyer Mick. Chris Francis chipped in three assists for the Hawks.
Kurtis Mucha went the distance in net for Portland, stopping 28 of 36 shots while Jon Groenheyde stopped 18 of 24 in the win for Kamloops.
On special teams, Kamloops went 2 for 3 on the power play while Portland finished 1 for 5.
Next up, the Hawks will take on the Kelowna Rockets at 7:00 on Friday night from the Prospera Centre in Kelowna.
