Week in Review:
Friday, March 15th, 2013 vs. Prince George Cougars - 5-2 Win
The Blazers eliminated the Prince George Cougars from the playoff picture with a 5-2 win on home ice. Tim Bozon and Brendan Ranford combined for seven points on the night as Bozon had two goals and two helpers and Ranford had a goal and two helpers. Kale Kessy and Chase Souto were the other Blazer goal scorers. Colin Smith had two assists in the win.
Saturday, March 16th, 2013 at Kelowna Rockets - 7-0 Win
Deven Sideroff had his first two WHL points in his second WHL game in a 7-0 win in Prince George. 16 year olds Connor Clouston and Mitch Friesen picked up their first WHL points with Clouston getting a goal and Friesen recording an assist. Tim Bozon had a goal and two assists, Brendan Ranford had three assists and Cole Ully had two goals. Dylan Willick and Kale Kessy were the other goal scorers. Taran Kozun recorded his second shutout of the season with 31 saves in goal
Season Highlights
The Blazers completed the 2012-13 season with an identical 47-20-2-3 record to the 2011-12 season. The hockey club finished 2nd in the B.C. Division, 3rd in the Western Conference, and 4th overall in the WHL. Some individual and team accomplishments in the regular season include:
Franchise record 14-game winning streak from September 30th - October 30th Franchise record 180 goals allowed in the season Goal differential of +81 (261 GF and 180 GA) which is the best since 1998-99 season Colin Smith's 106 points marks the first Blazer over 100 points in a season since Erik Christensen had 108 in 2002-03 Brendan Ranford sets franchise record for career games played 348 Four players with 87 or more points since the 1995-96 team Blazers record back-to-back 40+ win seasons for first time since 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons Cole Cheveldave is the first Blazer goaltender to record back-to-back 30+ win seasons since Daryl Reaugh in 1983-84 and 1984-85 Head Coach Guy Charron is tied for 2nd all-time with Don Hay in Blazers regular season wins with 144. Ken Hitchcock is 1st with 291 wins Colin Smith's 41 goals the most for a Blazer since Erik Christensen's 54 in 2002-03 Colin Smith and Brendan Ranford's team leading 65 assists the most since Jared Aulin had 77 in 2000-2001 Brendan Ranford finishes his WHL career with 357 career points which is 6th in franchise history. First Blazer to eclipse 350 career points since Darcy Tucker in 1994-95 Colin Smith is the franchise iron-man with 247 consecutive games played. Also joins Bronson Maschmeyer as the only Blazer to play all 72 regular season games for three straight years Cole Cheveldave had the 2nd best goals against average in a season at 2.38 for a Blazer goaltender only behind Kenric Exner's 2.31 in 1998-99

Blazers to Face Royals in Round 1 of Playoffs
The Kamloops Blazers (47-20-2-3) will settle for second place in the B.C. Division, third in the Western Conference and fourth overall in the WHL heading into the 2013 WHL playoffs.
The Blazers first round opponent has been determined as they will play the sixth seeded Victoria Royals (35-30-2-5) for the second consecutive season.

Kamloops Blazers Hockey School August 2013
The 2013 Kamloops Blazers Hockey School is open for registration! Hockey School will be held from August 12th - 16th with the Blazers coaching staff, current and former players instructing. Make sure to register quickly as Hockey School is filling up fast!

The Blazers are ranked 9th in the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 with a 47-20-2-3 record. The hockey club has been in the rankings for almost the entire season. The Blazers have either been honourable mentions or as high as second in the rankings. To view the current rankings, follow this link.
