Week in Review:

Wednesday , February 22nd, 2012 vs. Victoria Royals - 6-3 Win

The Royals had an early lead, but the Blazers pushed back with a 6-3 win. The Blazers opened the scoring as Dylan Willick put the Blazers up 1-0. The Royals came right back scoring on a tip in only 35 seconds later, then took the lead on the power play as Logan Nelson blasted a shot past goaltender Cam Lanigan. The Blazers tied it with Tim Bozon scoring a nice goal on a feed from Colin Smith and JC Lipon. The Royals took back the lead early in the third period. Lanigan was hurt on the play and Cole Cheveldave came in goal. The Blazers then took over. They tied it in the second period with Bronson Maschmeyer netting a power play goal. In the third period, Bozon, Maschmeyer and Aspen Sterzer each scored for a 6-3 win. Cole Cheveldave had the win making only 8 saves in relief of Lanigan.

Friday, February 24th, 2012 at Vancouver Giants - 6-2 Win

The Blazers earned their 20th road win of the season in a 6-2 win over the Vancouver Giants. JC Lipon opened the scoring going end to end and snapping a shot past goaltender Adam Morrison. Dylan Willick made it 2-0 with a power play marker on a great pass by Brendan Ranford. The Giants stormed back to start the second period. Brendan Gallagher and Brett Kulak each scored goals in the first 1:33 of the second period to make it 2-2. The Blazers pulled ahead when Bronson Maschmeyer scored a power play marker to make it 3-2 Blazers. Again, the Blazers owned the third period as Tim Bozon, Colin Smith and Chase Schaber each scored for a 6-2 win. The Blazers had six different goal scorers in the win. Cole Cheveldave played well making 34 saves for the Blazers.

Saturday, February 25th, 2012 vs. Vancouver Giants - 5-3 Loss

The game could have gone either way, but the Giants made no mistake converting on a late power play and won 5-3. Brendan Gallagher opened the scoring with a goal off a face off. The Blazers responded as Chase Schaber and Brendan Ranford both scored goals to give the Blazers a 2-1 lead after the first period. Ranford made it 3-1 for the Blazers in the second period, but the Giants came back. Jackson Houck snapped a shot that fooled goaltender Cole Cheveldave to make it 3-2. Brett Kulak tied it walking in untouched to beat Cheveldave. The Blazers Tim Bozon hit a post in the third period, and was also robbed on the door step by goaltender Adam Morrison. The Giants received a late power play and Marek Tvrdon converted with 37 seconds left. Gallagher added an empty net goal for a 5-3 win.

Monster Mondays

To kick start your week, the Kamloops Blazers are offering game tickets for a low price of only $10. Every Monday, tickets can be purchased at the Kamloops Blazers Box office for only $10 for any scheduled home games that week. This promotion applies to non-premium seating and will be in effect for the remainder of the season. Tickets must be purchased in person at the Blazers Box Office. Blazers vs. Rockets Game Details - Friday, March 2nd

The Kamloops Blazers will be hosting the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night. Friday's game will be broadcast across Western Canada on SHAW-TV. Kamloops Ford Lincoln is the game night sponsor, and there will be a Cooper's 'Shoot to Win' contest during the second period intermission.

There will be a special guest at Friday night's game! Cameron Hughes, who was hired by the 2010 Olympic Committee to attend all of the hockey games, will be in attendance.

Blazers continue to sit in 3rd in BMO MasterCard CHL Top 10

The Kamloops Blazers continue to be ranked high in the CHL Top 10. The Blazers are 3rd in the latest rankings. The Blazers have been a fixture in the rankings during the second half of the WHL season. This is the thirteenth time the Blazers have been ranked in the CHL Top 10 this season. The Blazers are the top ranked WHL team with a 43-15-1-3 record. The new CHL rankings will be out this Wednesday.

Academic Awards - University Students

The Kamloops Blazers honoured two of their University students prior to the start of Saturday night's game versus Vancouver. Defenseman Bronson Maschmeyer is the Blazers 'Most Outstanding University Student' for semester one. The 20-year-old had an 80% average. Ryan Hanes was named the team's 'Most Improved University Student' finishing with a 78% average.

Family Fun Day on Sunday, March 11th

The Kamloops Blazers will be hosting their second Family Fun Day on Sunday, March 11th between 11:00am - 1:00pm at both the North Shore and Sahali Safeway locations in Kamloops. Blazers close in on B.C. Division Title, Battling for top spot in WHL

The Kamloops Blazers continue to battle for top spot in the Western Conference and WHL with 90 points and a 43-15-1-3 record. The last time the Blazers won 40 games was during the 2006-07 season when the Blazers finished with a 40-26-4-2 record. The Blazers currently hold a 14-point lead in the Division over the Vancouver Giants and are on the verge of clinching its first B.C. Division title since the 2001-02 season. The magic number for the Blazers is two and a half. That is the combination of wins by the Blazers and losses by the Giants to clinch the B.C. Division banner.

The Blazers have already surpassed their win total from last season (29) with 43 wins, and are ranked 3rd in the CHL. The Blazers earned their 20th road victory of the season which is the most since the 1995-96 season. One of the most glaring stats is the Blazers dominance against its Western Conference opponents with a 35-6-1-2 record including a 14-1-1-1 record against the U.S Division. The Blazers also hold the best road record in the WHL going 20-6-1-3.

Blazers Have a Busy Week, Home to Kelowna on Friday, March 3rd

The Kamloops Blazers have a busy week with four games in five nights. On Tuesday night, the Blazers are in Portland to face the Winterhawks. The Winterhawks have the best home record in the WHL going 28-3-1-0. The Blazers will then head north to play to Everett Silvertips on Wednesday night.

The Blazers return home Friday night as they host the Kelowna Rockets. On Saturday, the Blazers will complete their busy week with a game in Kelowna to conclude the season series.

DePape on the Verge of Returning

The Kamloops Blazers are expecting 19-year-old forward Jordan DePape back by the upcoming weekend. DePape, who has been out since the sixth game on October 10th, has been practicing with the Blazers for three weeks now and is back healthy. The Winnipeg native had 21 goals and 48 points in 54 games with the Blazers last season.
