Kalamazoo Kings News Release

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo Kings home opener is set for Saturday, May 24rd at 7:05pm. The Kings will host future in-state rival Midwest Sliders at Homer Stryker Field.

The Kings' home opener will be one big promotion from beginning to end. The first 500 fans will receive a magnet schedule, courtesy of Medallion Management. The schedule is a great way to keep up on the Kings home games.

The Kings will also be hosting a mascot night where area mascots will interact with fans and participate in on-field events.

To conclude the night, the Kings will be giving away a FREE CAR after the conclusion of the game, courtesy of J.D. Byrider.

The Kalamazoo Kings finished 2007 with a record of 51-45, finishing one game out of the playoffs. Five players were named to the All-Star team last year, and three will return this season.

The Midwest Sliders were an expansion team last year and were based in Slippery Rock, PA. This year's Sliders will be a travel team, playing every game on the road, as they prepare to move into their new home across the state in Waterford, MI.

The Kings open their 2008 season on the road against the Florence Freedom for a three game series beginning Wednesday May 21st.
