
Kalamazoo Growlers add three freshmen from Central Michigan to 2016 roster

KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo Growlers are pleased to announce the signing of three players from Central Michigan University: Grant Wolfram, Michael Brettell and Daniel Robinson. All three will join the Growlers for the 2016 season.
Grant Wolfram: 6'6" - 210lb, LHP, Bats/L. Throws/L, Central Michigan (Fr.), Hamilton, Mich.
Wolfram will join the Growlers after he completes his first collegiate season for the Chippewas. The tall-lefty has been an early contributor to both the rotation and bullpen in 2016. Wolfram has made five appearances including four starts, compiling an 0-2 record with a 8.35 ERA.
Wolfram earned Holland Sentinel Co-Player of the Year as a junior at Hamilton High School after posting a 1.00 ERA with 88 strikeouts in 56 innings. Prep Baseball Report ranked Wolfram as the No. 9 prospect in the state of Michigan and the Hamilton native chose Central Michigan over other major conference schools.
In high school, Wolfram starred in tennis and basketball in addition to baseball. As a senior, he led the team in points and rebounds which earned him All-Conference honors. In tennis, Wolfram earned All-State honors as a senior after compiling a 30-1 record.
Daniel Robinson: 6'3" - 195lb, Bats/L, Throws/L, Central Michigan (Fr.), Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.
Robinson has made 24 starts as a freshman for Central Michigan, batting .196 with two doubles, nine RBI and 13 walks. The outfielder is fourth on the team in walks and fifth in starts.
At Grosse Pointe North High School, Robinson was a four-year letter winner in both football and baseball. He was selected to the 2014 MLive and MHSBCA Dream Teams and named All-State in baseball. Robinson was also the starting quarterback at Grosse Pointe North.
Robinson was ranked 17th in MIchigan by Prep Baseball Report as a high school senior and ultimately chose Central Michigan over other Mid-American Conference schools.
Michael Brettell: 6'3" - 195lb, RHP, Bats/R, Throws/R, Central Michigan (Fr.), Fonthill, Ont.
Brettell came to Central Michigan from Ontario for his first season of collegiate baseball. The six-foot-three right-hander has appeared in nine games for the Chippewas, including five starts. Brettell is 0-1 with a 6.48 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched.
The Ontario native earned plenty of accolades before heading to Mount Pleasant including being selected to the Canadian Junior National team. Brettell is expected to contribute to the Growlers rotation in 2016.
