Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO -Chicago Sky guard Kahleah Copper will represent the Sky in the 2023 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas as an All-Star reserve, the league announced today. This is Copper's third straight All-Star selection.
She is moving her way up the Sky's all-time leaderboards this season, now ranking fourth for the franchise in games played, points and made field goals.
Copper, an eight-year league veteran and 2021 WNBA Finals MVP, averaged 17.7 points during the franchise's first title run. In her first 14 games this season, Copper is averaging 16.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game and is shooting 41.7% from the field.
The All-Star player selection began with a voting process that ended Wednesday, June 21, and featured a collection of votes from fans, current WNBA players and a national panel of sports broadcasters and writers. Fans make up 50 percent of the votes while the media and players account for 25 percent each. Scores were determined by averaging the fan, player and media's rank of the All-Star contenders.
All-Star reserves were selected by the league's 12 head coaches.
A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, the two players with the most fan votes for the second year in a row, will draft their respective rosters by selecting first from the remaining eight players in the pool of starters and then from the pool of 12 reserves, which includes Copper. ESPN will broadcast the WNBA All-Star Team Selection Special on Saturday, July 8 at 1 p.m. ET.
The 2023 All-Star Game tips off at 5:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. ET, Saturday, July 15 inside Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcasted on ABC. The game broadcast will be preceded by a half hour edition of WNBA Countdown on ABC at 5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET.
