Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce the signing of forward Joe Seroski for the upcoming 2005-2006 season. Per team policy, the terms of the contract will remain undisclosed.
Seroski, 28, joins the K-Wings after a stellar 2004-05 season with the Kansas City Outlaws. As a member of the Outlaws, Seroski lit the lamp 42 times last season, which placed him third among all players in the UHL.
The addition of Seroski also gives the K-Wings an added threat on the power-play. The native of Hamilton, Ontario scored 21 of his 42 goals on the power-play. The 21 power-play goals were the second most man-advantage goals in the league.
"Joe (Seroski) is a proven goal scorer," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "For the past three seasons, we have been looking for additional scoring punch and we (K-Wings) feel we have found him."
Seroski has played the majority of his professional career in the ECHL with the New Orleans Brass, Birmingham Bulls, and the Baton Rouge Kingfish. The right winger has also played in the American Hockey League (AHL) with his hometown Hamilton Bulldogs.
Before turning pro, Seroski played three seasons of Junior "A" hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Seroski's best season in juniors was the 1996-97 season, when he registered 103 points (54 goals, 49 assists) for the Greyhounds.
The signing of Seroski gives the K-Wings ten players signed for the upcoming 2005-06 season, which begins October 22nd, when the K-Wings travel to Port Huron to battle the Flags. Besides Seroski, the K-Wings have also signed forwards Nick Bootland, Mike Manley, Tyler Rennette, and Tyler Willis, defensemen Josh Elzinga, Adam Elzinga, Greg Labenski, and Daniel Carriere and goaltender Joel Martin earlier this off-season.
