Kinston rallied for five runs in the seventh inning on the way to a 6-4 comeback win on Friday night in Myrtle Beach. The K-Tribe is now just a half game behind Salem for the final playoff spot in the Carolina League Southern Division with 17 games to play.

The Pelicans scored an unearned run in the second inning to go in front. Cody Johnson walked and Karexon Sanchez committed a two-base throwing error on a grounder by Samuel Sime to move Johnson to third. He scored on a double play grounder by Matt Kennelly to make it 1-0.

Johnson hit a solo homer to left to lead off the fourth inning and put the Pelicans ahead 2-0. In the sixth, Kennelly's RBI double made it a 3-0 lead.

The Indians rallied in a wild seventh inning. Jeremie Tice walked to start the inning and Chun Chen and Kyle Bellows followed with back-to-back singles. Bellows' hit then went through the legs of right fielder Gerry Rodriguez, allowing Tice to score on the error. Abner Abreu then hit a two-run double to right center to tie the game at three. With the bases loaded and one out, Bo Greenwell sent a potential double play grounder to second. However, Jordan Kreke made a fielding error and Abreu scored to give the K-Tribe the lead. Sanchez then drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 5-3.

Myrtle Beach scored a run in the bottom of the inning on Mike Jones' RBI grounder to pull to within 5-4. With the bases loaded and two out, Matt Langwell came on in relief and struck out Samuel Sime to keep the K-Tribe in front.

Kinston added a run in the eighth on a Juan Diaz double and Doug Pickens RBI single to make it 6-4.

Langwell pitched a perfect eighth and earned his league-leading 14th hold. He hasn't allowed a run in his last 13 1/3 innings pitched.

Cory Burns threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his league-best 25th save. He is now 37-for-39 this season in save situations combined this season, third best in all of MiLB. He hasn't allowed a run in his last 11 innings.
