Kinston Indians News Release
After Wednesday night's rainout vs. Potomac, Kinston starts a short three-game roadtrip in Myrtle Beach. Joey Mahalic will pitch for the Indians, first pitch at 7:05 pm.
Season Series - The Indians are 10-7 against Myrtle Beach this season and are 4-3 on the Grand Strand. However, the Pelicans have won four of the six meetings in the second half, winning each series 2-1. Kinston is hitting .257 in the series while holding the Pelicans to a .225 average. Karexon Sanchez is batting .308 with 2 HR and 7 RBI this season against Myrtle Beach. Doug Pickens has chipped in with 10 RBI and Abner Abreu has knocked in eight runs against the Pelicans.
Pitching Prowess - The Indians pitching staff continues to pace the Carolina League, as they are on top of the league in five pitching categories. Kinston leads the circuit in ERA (3.35), shutouts (11), saves (41), fewest hits allowed (961) and fewest runs allowed (468). T.J. McFarland, Joe Gardner and T.J. House are all in the top ten in the league in ERA, while Gardner and McFarland are tied for second in the league with ten wins.
