K-Tribe Notes

June 29, 2010 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Kinston Indians News Release

The first place K-Tribe looks to sweep Potomac in the final game of the homestand tonight at 7pm at Historic Grainger Stadium.

Top Tribe- The K-Tribe is now alone in first place in the Carolina League Southern Division, a spot they had been tied for since opening the second half with a 2-1 win over Lynchburg on Thursday. The current five day stretch in first place is the longest since the K-Tribe went 8-2 to start the second half of the season in 2008.

Series Stuff- Monday night's win clinched the series for the K-Tribe, who has won seven of their last eight series at Grainger Stadium. Kinston is now 12-10-2 in series this season. The Indians have won all three of their series against Potomac, good for a record of 6-2 going into tonight's series finale. In the season series, Kinston is hitting .253 and the P-Nats are batting .233.

Grainger Greatness- The K-Tribe moved to 24-14 at home this season with last night's win and they have won 18 of their last 25 at Grainger Stadium. The statistics show a lot of reasons for that success. Kinston hits .262 at home as opposed to just .232 on the road. The Indians also have 29 homers at Grainger Stadium and just 13 on the road. The K-Tribe has scored 29 more runs at home this year, having played one more game at home than on the road. The pitching staff has a 2.88 ERA at home and a 2.95 ERA away from Kinston.
