K-Tribe Game Notes for September 6
September 6, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Kinston Indians News Release
Playoff Picture - With a Kinston loss and a Salem win the K-Tribe is now two games behind the Red Sox for the final playoff spot with two games remaining. Salem has clinched at least a play-in game with Kinston on Tuesday. A Salem win or a Kinston loss over the next two days would eliminate Kinston from playoff contention.
Playoff Tradition - The K-Tribe was left out of the playoffs last season, breaking a Carolina League record streak of seven straight years in the postseason. (2001-07). Kinston has made the playoffs in 11 of the last 14 seasons and has never missed the playoffs in back-to-back years as a Cleveland Indians affiliate (Since 1987 - 23 years)
Losing Record - At 59-77 Kinston needs at least one win in the last two games to avoid becoming the team with the worst overall record in K-Tribe History. The 1994 Kinston Indians were 60-78. This is only the fourth time in the 23 years as a Cleveland affiliate that Kinston will have an overall losing record.
