Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced Thursday that former player Justin Mapp is joining the organization as a scouting collaborator with the sporting staff.
"We are pleased to have a former player like Justin back with us, who is part of the Club's history," said CF Montréal Vice-President and Chief Sporting Officer Olivier Renard. "We analyzed our needs internally and Justin was the right fit for outreach at the U.S. college level and the SuperDraft. In addition to his connections in the U.S., he is completing his scouting courses and is already familiar with the reality of the Club and what we are looking for."
"I am happy to have the chance to continue to help this Club that means so much to me," said Justin Mapp. "From the U.S. I will be able to leverage my network to help with scouting and recruiting as well as monitor college prospects. I'm grateful to have this opportunity to be involved once more with CF Montréal."
Mapp was acquired in 2012 by the Montreal Impact from Philadelphia in the 2011 Expansion Draft, ahead of the Impact's inaugural MLS season. The winger played with the Club from 2012 to 2015, collecting six goals and 24 assists in 99 games across all competitions. He won the George Gross Memorial Trophy twice for his performances with the Club in the 2013 and 2014 Canadian Championships and was drafted by D.C. United in the fourth round of the 2002 MLS SuperDraft. A Mississippi native, he retired in 2017 after one season with Sporting Kansas City. Through his 14-year MLS career, the American tallied 22 goals and 56 assists.
CF Montréal had previously announced the appointment of Nacho Piatti to a similar role based in South America on August 25, followed by the appointment of Amy Walsh to the forthcoming women's program on September 2.
