Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

JUPITER, FL - For the second straight night a strong performance by a Hammerhead starter could not translate to a win as the Hammerheads fell to Brevard County 2-0 on Saturday at Roger Dean Stadium.

After Austin Brice allowed just one run in six innings on Friday night, Trevor Williams had a very similar performance.

Williams tossed six shutout innings allowing just four hits. He struck out four and walked a pair.

The right hander left the game with the score tied at zero following the sixth inning and as soon as Frankie Reed replaced him Manatees took advantage.

With one out in the top of the seventh Alfredo Rodriguez sliced a double that was just out of the reach of the slide of the right fielder Jesus Solorzano. After Rodriguez moved to third on a fly out to right, Yadiel Rivera lined a double into the right field corner to put Brevard County up 1-0.

Nathan Orf followed with a single up the middle as Rivera scored the second run of the game.

That would be all the offense the 'Tees would need on the night.

Jupiter did bring the winning run to plate in the ninth inning when Terrence Dayleg drew a leadoff walk and Viosergy Rosa reached on a one out single, but Martin Viramontes struck out Matt Juengel and Colin Moran flied out to end the game.

Hobbs Johnson picked up the win for Brevard County, his fourth of the year, after he tossed six shutout innings. Johnson struck out five including Rosa to end the sixth with runners on first and second.

Williams ended up getting a no decision. It was his sixth quality start of the year and his fourth straight quality outing.

The Hammerheads and Manatees will be back at it on Sunday for some afternoon baseball. The first pitch of the third game of the series is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.

WP: Hobbs Johnson (4-4)

LP: Frankie Reed (1-2)

S: Martin Viramontes (1)
