Juniors Take Preseason Game

Montreal, September 3rd, 2009 - The Montreal Juniors hosted the Foreurs de Val-d'Or on Thursday at the Samuel Moskovitch Arena of Cote Saint-Luc. With a record of 2-2- in the pre-season, the Juniors have already played in Longueuil, Shawinigan, Pointe-Claire and Valleyfield. The team will announce its official roster before Friday, September 11th so players still have to fight for the last spots available on the team.

Montréal won 4-3 in their first matchup of the 2009-2010.

In the first, Val-d'Or's Steven Verrilli scored his first goal, assisted by teammate Aliaksandr Famin. Montreal's Belarus Evgeny Solomonov took advantage of his team's second powerplay to bring the score to 1-1.

During the second period, Foreurs' #20, Olivier Archambault, gave his team the lead.

Finally, the third was filled with action. Rookie Eliezer Sherbatov and veteran Jérémy Gouchie each scored before Val-d'Or's Matthieu Thériault tied the game, 3-3. Three seconds before the end of the game, Montreal's Pier-Antoine Dion brought the score to 4-3 to give his team the win.

The Montreal Juniors will now play in Laval at the Colisee against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on Friday, September 4th, at 7:35pm for their last game of the pre-season. For the beginning of the 2009-2010 regular season, the team will hit the road to play in Shawinigan, Victoriaville, Val-d'Or and Rouyn-Noranda (on September 11th, 13th, 18th and 19th) before they come back at the Verdun Auditorium for their home opening game on Friday, September 25th, at 7:35 pm.
