March 13, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Cincinnati News Release
FC Cincinnati midfielder Junior Moreno has been called up to the 30-man roster for the Venezuelan Men's National Team ahead of two International Friendlies in Saudi Arabia, the federation announced today. La Vinotinto will face Saudi Arabia on March 24 in Jeddah, and then will travel cross-country to meet Uzbekistan on March 28 in Buraidah.
The camp is Venezuela's first under new head coach Fernando Batista, who was appointed manager earlier this month. Moreno is one of nine Major League Soccer players named to the roster, including Inter Miami CF forward Josef Martínez and Real Salt Lake midfielder Jefferson Savarino.
Moreno, a native of San Cristóbal, Venezuela, has earned 35 caps for his country, dating back to his international debut on June 3, 2017 in the United States against the USMNT. His last appearance for his country came just over one year ago, on Feb. 2, 2022 in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier at Uruguay.
Moreno has started and played in all three games this season for FC Cincinnati, notably providing the game-winning assist for Brenner this past Saturday in the 1-0 win for the Orange and Blue over Seattle Sounders FC.
FC Cincinnati return to action at Soldier Field to take on Chicago Fire FC this Saturday, March 18. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT on Apple TV via MLS Season Pass and over the radio locally on ESPN 1530.
