Ohio Junior Blue Jackets News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Ohio Junior Blue Jackets defeated the Chicago Steel 4-3 Friday in front of a sold out crowd at the Dispatch Ice Haus. Forward Derek Roehl scored a hat trick, including the game-winning goal in the third period.
In the first 20 minutes of the game, Roehl scored his first goal with a wrist shot over the shoulder of Chicago (12-45-2, 26 pts.) goalie Nick Pisellini. Roehl was not done, as he opened the scoring in the second period as well, giving Ohio (13-39-7, 33 pts.) a 2-0 lead. Center Clark MacLean and defenseman Nolan Ryan assisted on the play.
The Steel fought back with a five-on-three goal by Ryan Raven, just before the midway point of the second period. The Junior Blue Jackets took back their two-goal lead when center Tim Hall picked up a puck in Chicago's zone and fired it in for his team leading 17th goal of the season.
In the third period, the Steel got an early goal to cut the lead to one again, however Roehl had one more answer. With assists by MacLean and defenseman John Ryder, Roehl scored the eventual game-winning goal, falling down on a rebound and drew another penalty on the visitors in the process. Chicago added one final goal from Mike Walsh to complete the scoring.
