One Really Good Minute

Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Two goals spaced 50 seconds apart were enough for the Waterloo Black Hawks to top the Green Bay Gamblers 2-1 Friday.

Green Bay scored first with a powerplay goal midway through the opening period by former Black Hawk Kurt Davis.

The Hawks tied the game with a powerplay goal by Blake Kessel at 12:37 of the second. Five seconds after the next faceoff, an interference penalty led to another Waterloo powerplay. Matt Arhontas converted on the opportunity, deflecting in a Vince LoVerde shot for the eventual game-winning goal.

Matt DiGirolamo stopped 21 of 22 Green Bay shots, half of which came in the first period, as the Gamblers peppered the net during three powerplays.

The Hawks finish the regular season tomorrow in Cedar Rapids. The winner will be the 2006-2007 Anderson Cup Champion. Visit waterlooblackhawks.com for details on Waterloo's playoff schedule; the post season begins next week.
