Junior Blue Jackets Slide Past Ice 3-2

Columbus, OH - Ohio forward Matt Leitner scored two goals and goaltender Corson Cramer made 33 saves as the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets defeated the Indiana Ice 3-2 at the Dispatch Ice Haus Tuesday night.

Ohio (15-20-5, 35 pts) broke the scoreless tie with just over six minutes remaining in the first period when Matt Leitner scored on assists from forwards Rich Leitner and Daniel Barczuk. Indiana (30-8-5, 65 pts.) scored the lone goal of the second period, as forward Gregory Squires tied the game at 1-1.

The Junior Blue Jackets regained the lead less than a minute into the third when forward Derek Roehl picked up a loose puck at the side of the net and flipped it over Indiana goaltender Matt Hoyle for his team-leading 18th goal of the season. Assists were credited to forwards Charles Brockett and Justin Cseter. Ohio extended its lead when Matt Leitner scored his second of the game and 12th of the season off a centering pass from Rich Leitner. Ohio forward Dan Durham was also credited with an assist on the goal. Indiana forward Paul Carey answered less than a minute later to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Cramer and the Junior Blue Jackets held strong for their seventh home win in their last nine tries.

Cramer, making his third consecutive start, made 33 saves on 35 shots for his sixth victory of the season. Hoyle turned away 39 of 42 shots in the loss. The Junior Blue Jackets finished the contest 0-for-4 with the man advantage, while the Ice went 0-for-3.

Ohio will play its next five games on the road, beginning with contests at Des Moines and Lincoln on Friday and Saturday. Game times are set for 7 p.m. and 7:05 p.m., respectively
