Junior Jackets outlast Steel

March 29, 2008 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Ohio Junior Blue Jackets News Release

Columbus, OHIO - Ohio forwards Justin Cseter and Tim Hall scored two goals each as the Junior Blue Jackets defeated the Chicago Steel 7-6 Saturday night at the Dispatch Ice Haus.

Junior Blue Jackets defenseman Tom Janosz put Ohio (25-26-6, 56 pts.) on the board with his second goal of the season at 2:09 to give the Jackets a 1-0 lead. Forward Tim Hall added to the advantage when he took a misplayed puck by Chicago goaltender Nick Pisellini and put it into an empty net. But the Steel (30-21-6) tied it up before the end of the first, as forwards Alex Simonson and Mark Anthoine scored to make it 2-2.

Ohio defenseman Steven Spinell opened the scoring in the second on assists by Cseter and Charles Brockett to make it 3-2. Hall scored his second goal of the game, a power-play tally, to extend the lead to 4-2, before Simonson cut the deficit to one with his second goal of the game.

Cseter scored his first of the game 1:19 into the third, followed by a shorthanded tally by Ohio forward Daniel Barczuk to stretch the lead to 6-3. After Chicago forward Drew LeBlanc scored for the Steel, Cseter notched his second of the game and fourth in as many games to make the score 7-4. Chicago came back at the end of the third, as forward Brian ONeill and defenseman Barron Smith scored to make it a one-goal game, but Jackets' goaltender Corson Cramer stopped a point-blank shot with five seconds remaining to preserve the victory. Ohio forwards Derek Roehl (0-3-3), Charles Brockett (0-3-3) and Cseter (2-1-3) all finished with three-point nights.

Ohio finished the contest 2-for-5 on the power play while Chicago finished 1-for-5. Cramer made 33 saves in the win while his counterpart, Pisellini, stopped 22 of 29 shots.
