Last time out...
The Freedom swept the Schaumburg Boomers by combining small ball and long ball in a 12-3 win on Sunday. Florence scored runs in each of the first five innings, including a four-run fifth that saw Sam Eberle hit the first grand slam of his professional career. Jeremy Gooding (3-2) went six and two thirds innings for the win, scattering seven hits and allowing two runs while walking two and striking out four. Gaby Juarbe added a three-run home run in the seventh to extend the Florence lead to 12-2 in the seventh. Each team tallied 12 hits in the game but the Freedom scored 7 of their 12 runs via home runs. Eberle, Justin Harris, Steve Carrillo and Andrew Godbold tallied multi-hit games for Florence and Godbold drove in two runs as well. Collins Cuthrell drew three walks and scored two runs. Along with his grand slam, Eberle also scored four times in the game and accumulated three hits. Pete Levitt and Seth Harvey finished the game off for Florence.
For Starters...
Cody Gray comes off the 14-Day DL today to make his third start of his professional career. Gray last pitched on June 28 against the Windy City ThunderBolts as he went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits in a no-decision as the Freedom won 6-4. Florence is 2-0 on the season when Gray starts. A product of NAIA school Northwood University, Gray went 8-3 in 12 starts in 2015, finishing with an ERA of 1.69. Impressively, Gray struck out 101 batters in 85 innings. In 2014 Gray appeared in seven games, picking up five wins. Also struck out 37 batters in 42.2 innings as a starter. Named a Pre-Season All-American pitcher.
Bummed...
The Freedom are 1-2 so far on the season against the Traverse City Beach Bums. Traverse City took two of three from Florence June 3-4 at UC Health Stadium. All three games were decided by three runs or less.

The Freedom's 234 runs are the fourth most runs scored so far this season in the Frontier League.
