Anderson, SC- After getting rained out on Friday and Saturday, the Bradenton Juice were finally back in action on Monday vs. the Anderson Joes. But the break didn't prove dividends for the Juice as they fell 5-0 to the Joes at Anderson Memorial Stadium.
Anderson got the scoring started early with two runs in the Bottom of the 1st inning. With one out second baseman Heath Keel sent a solo home run over the left field wall about 410 feet giving the Joes a 1-0 lead. The next batter Billy Hogan singled to center field and he scored three batters later on a two-out single by Kevin Noles.
In the third innng Anderson scored two more runs off Juice starting pitcher Brian Gartley. Richard Quihuis-Bell led off the inning with a double and two batters later Kevin Noles hit an infield single. The fifth batter of the inning Angelo Tavelli singled to center field driving in Quihuis-Bell and Noles.
The Joes added the final run of the contest in the 8th inning when Angelo Tavelli singled home Kevin Noles.
Bradenton had prime opportunities to score in the 6th, 8th, and 9th innings but they weren't able to drive in a run. In the 6th the Juice stranded the bases loaded with Eddie Kim grounding out to end the inning.
Jean Granados started and got the win for Anderson pitching 7 innings, allowing 0 runs, walking 2 batters, and struck out 8. Granados improves his record to 1-1.
Brian Gartley took the loss for Bradenton going 5 innings allowing 4 runs, 2 earned, walking 3 batters, and striking out 5. Gartley's record now stands at 1-1.
Bradenton fell for the 3rd straight game and it is now 7-7 while Anderson improves to 3-12.
