Granados pitches Joes over Juice
June 4, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
Anderson Joes News Release
Behind the masterful pitching of Jean Granados and an efficient offensive performance from the entire lineup, Anderson won its third game of the season, 5-0, over the Bradenton Juice.
Granados turned in the most dominant pitching performance of any Joes starter this season, striking out eight, allowing two hits, and walking two batters across seven innings. Granados took a no-hitter in the sixth, at one point retiring 18 straight hitters from the middle of the first inning until the top of the sixth.
The game marked the first time this season Anderson (3-12) shut out an opponent. The Joes rode Granados' hot arm and some hot bats to the win.
Angelo Tavelli went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Kevin Noles went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI in dropping Bradenton (7-7) back to a .500 record. Six of the Joes' starting nine had hits and eight of them reached base in some way.
For Bradenton, the Juice only managed four total hits scattered across four batters. Joes reliever Will Krout pitched the final two innings for Anderson to complete the shutout.
With the win, Granados improved to 1-1. Bradenton starter Brian Gartley dropped to 1-1 with the loss.
The two teams resume their first-ever series Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
