CALGARY, AB - The National Lacrosse League announced today that Calgary Roughnecks forward Josh Sanderson is the NLL's Overall Player for Week #1 of the 2010 Season. The native of Orangeville, Ontario was also named Offensive Player of the Week.

"Josh is a consummate professional who is a master at preparation," said Head Coach Dave Pym. "His talent and ability to thread the needle is legendary. His competitive nature defines what it takes to be a champion."

Sanderson, Calgary's leading scorer from last season, picked up right where he left off with four goals and six assists to lead the Riggers to a 12-7 victory over the Minnesota Swarm last Sunday afternoon. Suitably known as "Shooter", he collected four loose balls and took 16 shots on goal.

This is Sanderson's third season with the Roughnecks.

He played his first full season with the Roughnecks last year, recording 29 goals and 74 assists for 103 points. In that time, he collected 73 loose balls and notched 11 power play goals, 31 power play assists and one game winning goal in 16 regular season games.

He tallied 19 points (5g,14a) in three playoff games, leading the Riggers to a 12-10 win over the New York Titans and their second Champion's Cup. He was voted the NLL's MVP during the 2009 post-season.

Sanderson was recently ranked the #3 player on the NLL Insider's Top 50 List, being labeled "one of the greatest setup men in pro lacrosse history".

Sanderson and the rest of the Riggers head to Minnesota this Friday to take on the Swarm once again. Game time is 6:35 p.m. MST, and can be seen on www.nll.com.
