Josh McQuade Returns for Second Season
July 9, 2014 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Brampton Beast News Release
The Brampton Beast is pleased to announce the signing of returning forward Josh McQuade for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. McQuade had a strong performance as a rookie with the Beast playing 56 games and ending the season with 19 goals and 16 assists. McQuade scored the first hat trick in franchise history against the St. Charles Chill in a 6-3 victory.
"I really enjoyed playing in front of my family and friends last year. I believe good things will happen for the Beast this upcoming season," said McQuade when asked why he decided to return. "Now that we have our first year under the belt we understand what we have to do to be successful in this league."
The Grimsby native's season ended early in a game against the Missouri Mavericks where he tore a tendon in his knee and fractured his thighbone. McQuade finished physiotherapy and has started attending the gym regularly. He is also playing with two ice hockey teams and a ball hockey team this off-season. McQuade is confident that he will be healthy and fit for camp.
Head Coach Mark DeSantis is excited to have McQuade back in the line up. "We can see Josh becoming a 25 to 30 goal scorer in this league," said DeSantis. "His talent level is off the charts, along with his character and willing to do whatever it takes to win attitude."
Prior to McQuade's career in Brampton, he played two seasons with the Fayetteville FireAntz, where DeSantis coached previous to the Beast. McQuade is the fourth player to sign with the Beast, joining Cal Wild, Andrew Darrigo and Mike MacIsaac. Fans have the opportunity to meet and skate with McQuade on Sunday, July 13th. Official team dentist, Churchill Meadows Dental Centre, will be hosting a free skate in partnership with the Beast. The free skate is open to the public and will take place from 2:15-4:15PM at the Powerade Centre. Fans are asked to RSVP to the event with CMDC staff at 905-814-4001.
