PHOENIX, AZ (July 9, 2014) - The Central Hockey League's (CHL) 2014 Annual Meetings will take place from Monday, July 21 through Wednesday, July 23 and will be held at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino in Chandler, Arizona and are presented by Spencer Fane, Pointstreak and Jackson Lewis P.C.
The theme for the meetings is "New Horizons' which paves the way for the sessions that will bring delegates from all CHL member teams together as well as special guests from around the sports world.
This year's meetings will introduce a CHL job fair on July 21, hosted by TeamWork Online (the Official Recruiting Partner of the CHL), which will give a limited number of candidates one-on-one time with the CHL's member clubs. CHL Team Presidents and General Managers will be interviewing and selecting candidates for various positions including ticket sales, corporate/sponsorship sales, game operations, communications and marketing. On Tuesday, July 22, TeamWork Online Founder and President Buffy Filippell will host the CHL Sports Forum, another new innovation for the meetings which will be an interactive session with a panel of industry and media leaders. Featured on the panel will be current Executive Chairman of Pointstreak Peter Luukko, formerly the Chairman of Global Spectrum and the President/C.O.O of Comcast-Spectacor. Joining Luukko will be Garry Howard, current Director of Corporate Initiatives at American City Business Journals and former Editor in Chief at Sporting News along with labor attorney Gregg Clifton, Managing Partner at Jackson Lewis P.C. based out of Phoenix, who specializes in sports and entertainment law. Additionally, SRO Partners Managing Director Steve Delay (author of The Ultimate Toolkit and former Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Mandalay Baseball Properties) will round out the panel helping the group to present their ideas in revenue generating and marketing.
The week's festivities will conclude with the CHL Awards - Celebration of Excellence, a showcase outstanding performances from this past season in areas such as sales, leadership and marketing. The top award handed out that evening will be the CHL Franchise of the Year and Commissioner Steve Ryan will be delivering the "ËState of the League' address.
A new addition to the 2014 Annual Meetings will be a fully functioning media center highlighted by the presence of the 2014 CHL Media Services Award Winners, MinorLeagueHockeyReport.com, who will be covering every second of the meetings with live podcasts, in-depth interviews and reports from all the festivities.
The CHL's Owners will be meeting throughout the three days dealing with business and hockey matters determining policy, strategy and operational items for the 2014-15 season and there will be individual breakout sessions in the areas of hockey operations, communications and community relations, ticket sales and corporate/sponsorship sales.
