Jose Jimenez to Arkansas; Drew Beuerlein joins Kernels from Tempe

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that C Jose Jimenez has been promoted to Arkansas of the Texas League and that C Drew Beuerlein joins the Kernels from Tempe of the Arizona League. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Sunday.

Jimenez played in 62 game for the Kernels, hitting .228 with five HR and 30 RBI. He was a member of the Kernels 2010 Opening Day Roster and was selected by the Angels in the 47th Round of the 2009 Free Agent Draft out of the University of Tampa.

Beuerlein was selected by the Angels in the 32nd round of the 2010 Free Agent Draft out of the University of Nevada Las Vegas and resides in Scottsdale, AZ. He played nine games with the AZL Angels, hitting .250 with a double and 3 RBI.

Beuerlein will join the Kernels in Bowling Green and be available for tonight's 5:05 pm game with the Hot Rods. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one short of the MWL maximum, with three currently on the disabled list.

The Kernels continue a nine-game road trip tonight at 5:05 pm in Bowling Green, KY, returning to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, July 31st. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.kernels.com, or by calling the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560. Ticket office hours are 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
