October 10, 2019 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio Rampage General Manager Kevin McDonald and Head Coach Drew Bannister announced the team's leadership group today, naming forward Jordan Nolan the 16th captain in Rampage history.
The second-year Rampage forward and three-time Stanley Cup winner will be joined by four assistant captains. Forward Austin Poganski and defenseman Jake Dotchin will serve as assistant captains during home games, and forward Nathan Walker and defenseman Niko Mikkola will wear the 'A' during road games.
"Jordan is a tremendous leader with a wealth of pro experience," said Bannister. "I know that our leadership group will have the right voice in the locker room and the right attitude on the ice to help us be successful this season. This group will encompass the identity that we want our team to play with this year."
Nolan served as an assistant captain in 2018-19 during his first season with the Rampage and tied for the team lead with 17 goals.
"It's an honor and privilege to be named captain of the Rampage," said Nolan. "I fell in love with the city last season, and the organization has been nothing but first-class for my family and I. I'm looking forward to a great season with a great group of guys, playing in front of the best fans every night."
Poganski, also in his second season with the Rampage, was captain at the University of North Dakota during his senior season in 2017-18. He and Mikkola will wear a letter for the first time in the AHL.
Walker and Dotchin are both in their first seasons with San Antonio. Walker has played in over 300 AHL games and won a Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals in 2018. He served as an assistant captain last season with the Hershey Bears. Dotchin has played in 103 NHL games and 179 AHL games. He will serve as an assistant captain for the first time.
The Rampage continue their season-opening homestand when they host the Chicago Wolves on Friday night for a 7 p.m. puck-drop at the AT&T Center.
All Rampage games can be watched on AHLTV at SARampage.com or heard on Ticket 760 and SARampage.com.
