
Denis Hamel Selected for Induction into AHL Hall of Fame

BINGHAMTON - The American Hockey League today announced that Denis Hamel (Binghamton, 2003-10) is one of four people selected for induction into the American Hockey League Hall of Fame as the Class of 2020.
A native of Lachute, Quebec, Hamel signed with Ottawa in 2003 and spent six seasons with the Binghamton Senators. Hamel's best season came in 2005-06 when he recorded 91 points (56 goals, 35 assists) in 77 games. That same season, he also captured the Willie Marshall Award for leading the league with 56 goals.
Hamel had National Hockey League stints with Atlanta and Philadelphia before he returned to Binghamton in 2007. In his first season back with the Senators, he was selected to captain the Canadian AHL All-Star team and earned the Yanick Dupree Memorial Award as the AHL Man of the Year for his work in the community.
Hamel ranks 11th in AHL history with 338 goals, topping the 20-goal mark in each of his last 10 seasons in the league, and totaled 651 points in 850 games.
In 192 NHL games with Buffalo, Ottawa, Atlanta, and Philadelphia, Hamel recorded 31 points (19 goals, 12 assists)
Hamel was a three-time AHL All-Star (2000, 2006, 2008), First Team AHL All-Star (2006), Led the league in goals (2006; co-leader), and AHL Man of the Year (2008). Hamel was inducted into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014 and served as the team's captain for four of the six seasons.
