
Jones' Late-Game Heroics Lift RiverKings

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Sean Jones tallied the game-winning goal with just seven seconds left in regulation as the Mississippi RiverKings () closed out the home portion of their season with a 4-3 victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears () on Friday night.
The teams traded goals just 40 second apart in the first period. Sean Jones notched his first goal of the season 3:18 into the first period from Matt Harrington and Devin Mantha to put the RiverKings on top 1-0. But Knoxville answered back on Peter Neal's goal to tie the game at one going into the first intermission.
In the second, the RvierKings wasted little time getting on the board. Tyler Sheldrake notched his fourth goal of the season from Matt Smyth and Daniel Sobotka to put the home team up 2-1.
But it was all Knoxville after that. Neal tallied his second goal of the game on a deflection on the power play to ti the game at two 10:52 into the second. Nine minutes later, Vince Perreault's one-timer beat Dan McWhinney to send the Ice Bears into the second intermission leading 3-2.
The RiverKings battled back in the third. Matt Harrington tied the game at three with just under eight minutes remaining in the contest. Then, with seven second remaining in regulation, Sean Jones buried a rebound past Bryan Hince for his second goal of the game, which gave the RiverKings the 4-3 victory.
Dan McWhinney () took the win after stopping 33 of 36 shots against. Bryan Hince () took the loss after stopping 37 of 41 shots against.
