Jonathan Hernandez to Rehab in Frisco

FRISCO, Texas - Texas Rangers pitcher Jonathan Hernandez is set for a rehab stint with the Frisco RoughRiders beginning on Wednesday when the RoughRiders take on Midland at 7:05 p.m.

After making his MLB debut with the Rangers in 2019, Hernandez pitched again for Texas in 2020, dominating with a 2.90 ERA over 27 games during the COVID-shortened season. Before the 2021 season, Hernandez underwent "Tommy John" surgery and missed the entirety of 2021.

In 2022, Hernandez has made 15 appearances out of the bullpen for Triple-A Round Rock, going 0-2 with a 4.05 ERA while striking out 16 over 13.1 innings to 13 walks.

The Memphis, Tennessee native came to the RoughRiders in 2018, making 12 starts, before returning in 2019. Overall, he went 9-13 with a 5.06 ERA in 34 games, 28 starts in Frisco before being promoted directly to the big leagues and making his debut on August 21st, 2019.

The six-game series between the RoughRiders and RockHounds continues Wednesday night at Riders Field with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch, as Frisco RHP Owen White (2-0, 1.62 ERA) makes his fourth appearance with the Riders against Midland LHP Hogan Harris (1-0, 1.10 ERA).

Wednesday night at Riders Field is another Texas Baseball Legends Wednesday, as legendary Rangers backstop Jim Sundberg will be in attendance for a meet and greet with Riders and Rangers fans.
