
Frisco Offense Powers Wednesday Win

FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders utilized a pair of big innings to power an 11-4 win over the Midland RockHounds Wednesday night at Riders Field. Frisco starter Owen White gave up three runs in five innings and finished with five strikeouts in his third win in four starts with the Riders.
The Riders (8-6, 44-39) are now 3-1 as a team in White (3-0) starts. The Rangers No. 6 prospect, White held the RockHounds (11-3, 42-41) scoreless in his final two innings and exited trailing 3-1. Frisco offensively overcame the deficit in the bottom of the fifth with five runs in to give the Riders the lead and White his third Double-A win.
Midland southpaw starter Hogan Harris gave up a pair of runs on two hits in the bottom of the first inning and departed with six strikeouts in his four innings of work. The Riders win ended the RockHounds' nine-game winning streak entering Wednesday night.
To start the scoring, Frisco took the first lead of the game for the second time this week with a two-run inning on Harris. Shortstop Jonathan Ornelas led off the home half with a walk, followed by a single from first baseman Dustin Harris. Foscue drilled his first inning double to plate the first two runs of the night as Ornelas and Harris both came around, giving Frisco a 2-0 lead.
The RockHounds hopped on the board with three runs in the top of the third inning to erase the Frisco lead. Midland scored all three runs with two outs in the inning on White with back-to-back doubles from second baseman Brett Harris and third baseman Logan Davidson to take a 3-2 lead.
The Riders scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth on RockHounds reliever Bryce Conley. Frisco drew three walks in the inning and featured a two-run single from Foscue and a two-run double from third baseman Trey Hair to put the Riders in front, 7-3.
Frisco sent right-hander Marc Church to the mound for his second appearance in a Frisco uniform since his promotion from High-A on June 30th. Church struck out two batters in a clean sixth inning, allowing no baserunners.
After announced earlier before Wednesday's game, Texas Rangers pitcher Jonathan Hernandez threw 1.2 innings in a rehab appearance for the Riders and struck out a pair of batters in a scoreless seventh. Hernandez retired the first two batters in the top of the eighth before departing for fellow righty reliever Grant Anderson to finish the effort on the mound.
After Midland got a run back in the top of the eighth to make the score 7-4, Frisco sent nine to the plate to drive in four more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Catcher Jordan Procyshen doubled in his first game back in the Frisco lineup since June 19th, which was followed by an RBI single from Ornelas and an RBI double from Harris to push Frisco's lead to 10-4
Midland committed their third error of the game on a ground ball off the bat of center fielder J.P. Martinez to score Harris from third base and end the night's scoring at 11-4.
Frisco continues their series against Midland Thursday night sending RHP Zak Kent (1-2, 5.77 ERA) to the mound for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. RockHounds RHP Jeff Criswell (0-3, 2.61 ERA) makes his fifth start with Midland after starting in 10 games in High-A Lansing to begin the year.
