Joliet Third Baseman tops in Northern League This Week

JOLIET, IL - Joliet JackHammers third basemen Andrew Pinckney was named Northern League Player of the Week for the period of games from Monday, June 15 through Sunday, June 21. During that time, he hit .391 (9-23) with two home runs, five RBI, four doubles and five runs scored. He also led all Northern League hitters with a .826 slugging percentage. The JackHammers return to Silver Cross Field on Monday, June 29 at 7:05 p.m. versus the Kansas City T-Bones.
"I'm very happy for Andrew," said JackHammers Manager Wally Backman. "He has really been swinging the bat well lately."
Pinckney currently leads the JackHammers with six home runs and 21 RBI heading into tonight's game at ALEXIAN Field against the Schaumburg Flyers. Additionally, the Atlanta, GA native is making his case for being named the Northern League Player of the Week once again with a torrid start to this week's action. He went 3-5 with two solo home runs and three RBI, including the game-winning sacrifice fly in the 11th inning that gave the JackHammers a 6-5 win on Monday, June 22 in Winnipeg.
RHP Andy Shipman of the Gary SouthShore RailCats was also named the Northern League Pitcher of the Week.
