Dayton, OH â The Dayton Bombers bashed the Trenton Titans, 7-1, in front of 2,170 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Wednesday night. Janne Jokila scored four goals and added one assist for the Bombers, who matched their largest margin of victory this season.
Jokila snapped a 14-game goal scoring drought and gave Dayton a 1-0 lead at 4:33 of the first period. He, then, beat Titans starting goaltender Chris Houle with a wristshot shortside at 11:15 to open a 2-0 lead. Scott Basiuk made it 3-0 with his 2nd goal of the season at 14:21, and Houle was replaced by Andrew Allen after allowing three goals on 9 shots in the first period.
The only goal scored in the second period came off the stick of Scott Bertoli, on the powerplay, at 12:08 and the Titans were on the board.
Four third period goals from Jeff Szwez (0:18), Jokila (14:11, 16:01) and Scott Cameron (17:59) propelled the Bombers to their largest margin of victory on home ice this season, 7-1. Jokila's 4-goal performance was the first for a Bombers player this season.
