Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that Detroit Red Wing Darren McCarty and his band "Grinder" will play a post game concert this Friday night March 11th following the Storm and the Peoria Rivermen. Grinder will be performing the second post game concert in Toledo Storm history (the first was Opening Night 2004 with Firehouse).

Lead singer and Detroit Red Wing Darren McCarty headline the band Grinder. The band name Grinder comes from McCarty's on-ice style of play "grinding". Grinder has been rocking for 7 years, doing shows mostly in Detroit. Each off-season the band would play a handful of shows in and around Detroit, and in 2002 they found two weeks to write and record a debut CD, Gotta Keep Movin, in the home studio of Motor City musician and hockey fan Kid Rock. McCarty, the three time Stanley Cup Champion, list bands such as Nirvana and Motorhead as influences into Grinder's music.

McCarty and Grinder will take the stage inside the exhibition hall following the Toledo Storm and the Peoria Rivermen. Darren and the band will be on hand for an autograph session after the concert. Grinder is brought to you by: Champion Windows, Burger King, All American Cleaning, Dave's Home Cooked Foods, Club Fuze, Max and Erma's, Transportation Plus, and Ventura's.

The next Toledo Storm home game is Friday March 11 as the Storm host the Peoria Rivermen. Friday and Saturday night are part of the annual "Red Alert Weekend" with the Storm. All fans are asked to wear red to both games against the Rivermen. Toledo Hockey...A History of Champions!
