Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Whiffer are going to be active this season and they want you to be active with them. The Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers have partnered with Subway, YMCA of the Fox Cities, and Network Health to create Whiffer's Fitness Club to teach kids the importance of daily exercise and proper nutrition.
During the 2015 season, Whiffer will visit each of the YMCA locations in the Fox Cities for a fun, short program to get kids moving. Timber Rattlers players and staff members from the YMCA and the Rattlers' front office will be on hand, too.
"At the Y we are excited to be collaborating with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Subway to get kids more active and eating healthier," said Sue Pawlowski, Community Relations Director for the YMCA of the Fox Cities. "Whiffer's Fitness Club is a fun and exciting way to introduce Healthy Living to the youth in our community."
Each child who completes the one-day program will receive a fitness program water bottle from Network Health, Subway, the YMCA, and the Timber Rattlers. There is also a coupon good for a complimentary 6" sub from Subway and a Timber Rattlers ticket voucher for those who complete the program.
"The Northeastern Wisconsin Subway owners have always been committed to helping our local communities live happy and healthy lives, and Whiffer's Fitness program will help us continue in furthering that mission," said Pat Buckley, board chair of the Green Bay/Appleton Subway market and Subway franchisee. "We're ecstatic to partake in this program, as it will encourage children to kick-start healthy habits that will follow them throughout their entire lives."
There is no cost to join Whiffer's Fitness Club and you do not need to be a YMCA member to participate. The club is limited to children ages 14 and under. Registration for the club takes place on the day of the event at each YMCA.
"Network Health is passionate about enhancing the life, health and wellness of our community. Partnering with Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Subway and YMCA of the Fox Cities has given us an extraordinary opportunity to reach out to local families and show our support for making healthy choices," Network Health PR manager Jessica Fischer said. "We believe in teaching children to make good choices a habit - one that will continue into adulthood. Whiffer's Fitness Club is a fun and educational way to make that happen."
The dates for meetings of Whiffer's Fitness Club at area YMCA locations are:
Downtown Appleton YMCA: June 29 at 10:00am
Neenah/Menasha YMCA: July 4 at 8:45am (in conjunction with the Liberty Run)
Apple Creek YMCA: July 6 at 10:00am

"The Timber Rattlers are thrilled to be partnering with Subway, the YMCA of the Fox Cities, and Network Health to offer a fitness program to get kids excited about fitness and healthy eating," said Dayna Baitinger, Director of Community relations for the Timber Rattlers. "We are fortunate to live in a supportive and thriving community and the team works hard to develop and implement programs to give back to the community. We're very excited about Whiffer's Fitness Club!"
